An empty expectation suite validates successfully. A zero-row evaluation validates successfully. Your data quality gate is green because it checked nothing.

A CI GATE over a Great Expectations Core validation result that REFUSES TO REPORT GREEN on an empty suite, a zero-row evaluation, or a result nobody translated into an exit code. Zero runtime dependencies, pure functions over the standard library.

THE SILENT FAILURE. A data quality gate reports success in three ways that mean nothing happened.
AN EMPTY SUITE PASSES. Zero expectations, zero failures, success=true. A suite that lost its expectations to a bad merge or a renamed asset validates perfectly forever.
A ZERO-ROW EVALUATION PASSES. Every expectation held, vacuously, over nothing. An upstream that silently stopped delivering produces the best-looking validation run you have ever had.
AND A RESULT NOBODY READ IS NOT A GATE AT ALL. A validation that runs, fails, and never becomes a non-zero exit code is a log line. The pipeline goes green either way, which is the failure the whole practice exists to prevent.
So this refuses to call any of those a pass. It distinguishes 'checked and satisfied' from 'had nothing to check', which is the distinction a boolean success field cannot carry.

Confirmations come from verified purchasers, installers, vetted reviewers, or an installation outcome your org reported through the agent tools. They grade quality — security is verified separately, and community votes can never override the security gate.
