Pulls the first complete JSON array or object out of raw LLM text, even when the model has wrapped it in prose, fenced it in markdown, or emitted two candidates.

Brace counting is the obvious approach and it breaks on the first brace inside a string literal, which appears the moment any value contains JSON-ish text. The result is a truncated parse that still looks like valid JSON.
String-aware scanning, escape handling, and an explicit refusal when no complete structure exists rather than returning the longest fragment that happens to parse.
